Cora A. Hartenstein, age 102, formerly of Colony Avenue, Tiffin, Ohio died at 3:25 pm Saturday, February 10, 2007 in Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born on June 3, 1904 in Liberty Township, Ohio to the late Francis X. and Eva E. (Hammer) Bullinger. On September 1, 1926 in St. Andrew Catholic Church, Liberty Township, she married Alfred F. Hartenstein. He died on March 30, 1965.
Survivors include five sons, Paul H. (Evelyn) Hartenstein of Wakeman, Ohio; Stephen L. (Carmela) Hartenstein of Tiffin; Gregory G. (Elaine) Hartenstein of Hennrietta, New York; Patrick A. (Ann) Hartenstein of New Riegel, Ohio; Michael J. (Sue) Hartenstein of Fremont, Ohio; four daughters, Alfreda M. (Gerald) Dannemiller of Willard, Ohio; Ethella M. (Albert) Cook of Fremont, Ohio; Gladys J. (Raymond) Cunningham of Green Springs, Ohio; Judith I. (Robert) Schleter of Tiffin; 58 grandchildren; 116 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ralph L. Bullinger, John Bullinger; a daughter, Mercedes A. (Stanley) Miller; an infant son; two grandchildren, Phillip Miller and Jeanette Schroeder; three infant grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hartenstein was a 1921 Old Fort High School graduate. She also attended Bowling Green Normal School for teachers. Mrs. Hartenstein was a homemaker and a school teacher in a one room school house at Five Points near Mt. Gilead. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin and its Rosary Altar Society, the Kum Join Us Farm Women’s Club. Cora loved gardening, baking bread and cookies, and tending her flower beds.
The Funeral Mass will be officiated by Rev. David M. Ross at 10 am Friday, February 16, 2007 in St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, in Liberty Township. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.
Friends may call from 2-8 pm Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A Wake service will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
