Constantine Joseph Terry, 92, of Tiffin, died at 6:06 am, Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

Constantine was born March 30, 1920 in Tiffin to the late John and Cecilia (Klingshirn) Terry.  He married Esther R. Willman October 25, 1947 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2010.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen Terry, and Joseph (Ina) Terry both of Tiffin; two daughters Ginny (Dana) Mesnard of Republic, Louise (Duane) Hoschak of Toledo; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Toni Larick and Mary Jo Harper, both of Tiffin and Elaine Reedy of Cincinnati.

Constantine was preceded in death by three brothers, James, John and George Terry, and a sister, Catherine Barnhart.

Constantine was a Columbian High School football quarterback, and graduated in 1938.  He spent two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and then served our country for 3 and a half years during World War II as a Quartermaster Supply Sergeant in the United States Army.  He served in Algeria, French Morroco, Tunisia, Sicily, Rome, Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.  Constantine received the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and seven Bronze Stars.  He retired in 1978 from the Tiffin Post Office as a superintendent after 32 years of service.  Constantine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin Moose Lodge, life member, Disabled American Veterans Post 34, and N.A.R.F.E.  He was a volunteer at Mercy Tiffin Hospital, from 1978 to 1997, and was a Eucharistic Minister for shut-ins from 1986 to 1997.  He constructed and repaired over 200 rosaries in his lifetime.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm, Sunday, July 22 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113.  A wake service will be at 7pm.

Prayers will be said at 9:30am, Monday, July 23 at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.  The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
