Charles R. “Bump” Elchert, age 68, of Tiffin, Ohio, died at 5:04 am, Saturday, September 10, 2005, at Kingston Care Center, Sylvania, Ohio. He was born October 27, 1936, in Tiffin, to the late Earl and Lillian (Lehnert) Elchert. On July 13, 1957, he married Marshia Huth in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, Ohio, and she died May 30, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Rich Elchert, DC, Tiffin; two daughters, Diane (Tim) Tiell of Tiffin, and Beth (Daniel) Dell of Bascom, Ohio; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Elchert of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by a son, Edmund Ley Elchert, two daughters, Helena “Tina” Woelke and Sharon Conley; a sister, Nancy Elchert, and a brother, Paul Elchert, Sr.
Mr. Elchert was a proud 1955 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School, and he retired in 1985 from the Tiffin Fire Department. He also worked as a plumber. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, the Amvets, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, and Moose Lodge.
Rev. David Ross will celebrate the funeral Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to F.A.C.T. (Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment).
