Charles M. Gibbons, age 68, of S. Sandusky St., Tiffin, Ohio, formerly of Jackson, Michigan, died at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born March 26, 1939, in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Charles Frederick and Earla Lillian (Jenssen) Gibbons. On May 27, 1995, in Fostoria, Ohio, he married Margaret Davis-Brisendine, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Cynthia R. (Dr. Richard) Otten of Carmel, Indiana; children by marriage, Brenda (Brian) Fridd of Jackson, Michigan, Kathleen Brisendine of Gahanna, Ohio, Margaret M. Brisendine of Cambridge, Ohio, and Douglas (Lori) Brisendine of Tiffin; a grandson, Matthew Otten; six grandchildren by marriage, Amber Hancock, Kyle Fridd, Kara Fridd, Brennan Brisendine, Allyson Brisendine, and Madalyn Brisendine; a brother, Patrick (Judith) Gibbons of Jackson, Michigan; and cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
Mr. Gibbons was born and raised in the Jackson, Michigan, area and was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary High School, Jackson. He received an Associates Degree from Jackson Community College. He served in the US Marine Corps and then retired as a quality control engineer and as a tax preparer. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Churches, both in Tiffin and Jackson, and the Moose Lodge.
A Memorial Mass will be 11 am Thursday, July 5, 2007, at St. Francis Home Chapel, with Rev. Frank Nieset officiating. Friends may call one half hour before Mass at the Chapel. There will be also be a Memorial Mass at 10 am Friday, July 13, 2007, at St. Mary Church in Jackson, with family receiving friends one half hour prior to Mass. A private burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Jackson.
The family wishes to thank the St. Francis Home and Staff, Mercy Hospital ICU, and Dr. Amin for their wonderful care the past few months.
