Catherine A. “Kay” Lapczenski, age 77, of Hedgegate Court, Tiffin, died at 2:50 pm, Monday, June 16, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee.
She was born April 29, 1931, in Buffalo, NY, to the late William and Frances (Radice) Grosso. She married Paul J. Lapczenski on November 6, 1954 in Buffalo, NY, and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark J. Lapczenski of Cleveland and William P. (Marcia) Lapczenski of Emmetsburg, Iowa; a daughter, Patricia M. Lapczenski of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Leah Marie, Catherine Rose, Jonathon Paul, & Jack William Lapczenski, and Kelsie Francine & Taylor Marie Noe; and one great grandson, Landon Spenser Lapczenski.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel W. Grosso.
Mrs. Lapczenski graduated from Holy Angels Academy in Buffalo, NY and received a Bachelors Degree from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. She was a retired registered nurse from Mercy Hospital of Tiffin and nursing home administrator at Autumnwood Care Center for 20 years, retiring in 1997 and becoming Administrator of Transitional Care Unit at Mercy Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a Past President of Y-Wives, served on the Board of Directors of SCAT, member of Professional Nurses Club of Tiffin, she served in Community Outreach for Volunteers of America. Kay’s family always came first, as she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandson. Kay had a passion for cooking, baseball, playing bridge, and spending time with her friends.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30 am Saturday, June 21, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. David M. Ross officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo, NY.
Friends may call Friday, June 20, from 2 to 8 pm, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:45 pm. Rosary will also be recited in Church at 11:15 am Saturday.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church or Autumnwood Care Center in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
