Carol was born to Aloysius and Alma (Warnecke) Niese, May 7, 1950. She married John J. Keefe July 6, 1974 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, Ohio and he survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include a son, Matthew (Rae) Keefe of Delaware; two daughters, Angela Fiore of Columbus, Michelle (Chad) Collins of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Emma and Luke Collins; one brother, Paul (Midge) Niese of Columbus Grove; two sisters Barb Decker of Elida, and Pauline DeVita of Columbus Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Mary Niese.
Carol graduated from Lima Bath High School in 1968 and from Mary Manse College in 1972. She taught at St. Gerard's Catholic School in Lima, for two years then at Calvert Catholic Schools for 31 years. Carol was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a lector and communion distributor. She was a CCD teacher for many years.
Her loves were God, family, friends and teaching. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
She enjoyed reading, trips to the family farm and being surrounded by her family.
Carol will be greatly missed by those who love her.
Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113. A wake service will be held at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 am, Friday, January 4, 2013 at the funeral home, followed by the Mass at 10 am, St. Mary Catholic Church, with the he Reverends Gary Walters and Frank Murd officiating. Burial will be immediately following in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools or to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
