Carl C. Koerner, age 82, of Tiffin, Ohio, died February 20, 2002. He was born April 12, 1919, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Karl and Magdalene (Knoll) Koerner. On May 10, 1944, in Springfield, he married his wife of 58 years, Gertrude Cochran. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Alexander G. (Teresa Sue) Koerner of Harrod, Ohio, 2 daughters, Connie Koerner of Bluffton, Ohio, and Teresa Koerner of Tiffin, a brother, George Koerner, a sister, Mary Ridgeway, and 2 grandchildren, Josh Steinmetz and Emily Krabach. He was a 1937 graduate of Springfield High School, and was a retired tool maker at National Machinery Company, Tiffin. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, the Quarter Century Club, American Legion Post 888, Tiffin Tennis Assn., Tiffin Rifle Club, and was a Master Gardener through Ohio State University Extension Office. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant in the 905th Air Engineer Squadron of the 487th Service Group. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Memorials may be made to the Master Gardeners of Seneca County.
