Bo Gregory Poland, 25, of Tiffin, lost his battle against addiction on September 22, 2017.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 16, 1992, the second child of Jeffrey R. and Bertha Alvarado Poland.
In his youth, Bo attended St. Mary School, Tiffin, Ohio, and was a member of the school’s last graduating class in 2007. He later went on to attend Calvert Catholic, Sentinel, and Columbian high schools. He was an excellent athlete, participating in baseball, basketball and football throughout his school years. He impressed family and spectators during a Little Seneca’s basketball game when he once made a half-court buzzer shot. He was a fan of Michigan football, fishing, and his little sister, Jules. Recently, he had worked odd jobs doing painting, demolition, and roofing in the local area.
He is survived by his parents, sisters Joan of Chicago and Julianne of Tiffin, and maternal grandmother Dominga Alvarado of Tiffin. Bo also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Robert and Jenot Sue Poland, maternal grandfather Teodoro Alvarado, and cousin Maria Christina Alvarado.
Bo was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Many don’t understand why or how people become addicted to drugs. They mistakenly think that drug abusers lack moral principles or willpower, and could stop simply by choosing to. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease. Every heroin addict will quit using … it will either be on their own terms or on heroin’s terms. Bo’s soul is finally at peace.
