Audrey A. Haefling, age 82, of Autumnwood Drive, Tiffin, Ohio died at 10:40 pm Friday, September 28, 2007 at her residence.

She was born August 12, 1925, to the late Claude and Elise (Lowers) Barber, in Canonsburg, PA.

Audrey married on May 20, 1950 in St. Mary Catholic Church by the Rev. Tim Downey, to Robert Haefling and he survives.

Other survivors include, three daughters, Jan (Glen) Lorenz of Edmond, OK, Crista Burley of Seabrook, TX, and Joan (Bill) Jaco of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Erin, Alexandria, Joshua, Ariel, Matthew, Zachary and Addison, one great-grandson, Cayden; a sister, Bernice (Loren) Saam of Woodville, OH, four sisters-in-law, Jean Miller, Clarann Wise, Mary Fran Young, and Kathy Wise and 25 nieces and nephews. All of these people were special in her life.

Audrey attended East Liverpool, OH grade school, Phoenix, AZ middle school and then graduated from Ravenna High School in Ohio, Class of 1943. She worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company in Fremont, Ohio until 1951. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society, the Mother’s Study Club and the Bell Telephone Reunion group.

She had fond memories of dancing at the famous Rainbow Gardens, in Fremont. She met her husband on a blind date at Gem Beach in Port Clinton, Ohio. Audrey loved to dance, play golf and cards, go shopping, bowling, travel and went to many Ohio State football games. Audrey volunteered for many organizations including Meals on Wheels, the Board of Elections, St. Mary’s outdoor flower committee, and was involved in entertaining events at the Knights of Columbus via the Lady Knights.

The Funeral Mass will be officiated by Rev. Paul Faroh at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Friends and family may visit from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday, October 1, 2007 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A Parish Wake Service will be at 3:45 pm Monday at the funeral home.

The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Heartland Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
