Arthur J. Friemoth, age 97, formerly of 114 Coe St., Tiffin, died at 7:40 pm Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Elmwood Assisted Living at the Shawhan. He was in good health and enjoyed life at the Elmwood right up to the end.
He was born January 29, 1912, in Ottoville, Ohio, to the late Theodore and Angela (Spieles) Friemoth. On June 11, 1941, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Margaret U. Omlor. She died August 17, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Angela Herring of Newport News, Virginia, and Jeanette (Enver C.) Wolfe of Blue Rock, Ohio; three brothers, Orville (Phyllis) Friemoth and Edwin Friemoth, both of Michigan, and Hubert Friemoth of Delphos, Ohio; two sisters, Rita Heidenescher and Marie Musgrave, both of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lenus and Elmer Friemoth, and two sisters, Mary Friemoth and Susan Tesnow.
Mr. Friemoth retired in 1979 as a stationary engineer and electrical maintenance technician at I.T.T. Art was a jack-of-all-trades and learned a lot about electrical repair as a young man. He did much electrical work on the side during his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was very active in his faith and with the church festival.
Friends may call 4 to 6 pm Sunday, January 17, 2010, and 9 to 10 am Monday, January 18, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. Prayers will be said at 10 am Monday at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited in Church twenty minutes prior to Mass.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church for Masses, or to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.
