Arlene M. Gaietto, 77, formerly of Tecumseh Trail, Tiffin died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born to the late Harold and Geraldine (Carp) Shetterly on March 21, 1934 in Tiffin. She married Eugene P. “Nips” Gaietto November 6, 1954 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin and he died September 13, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Michael (Katy) Gaietto of Alexandria, Va., Jeff (Gina) Gaietto of Tiffin, five daughters, Kathy (David) Cummings of Waukesha, Wis., Linda S. Gaietto of Columbus, Ohio, Doris (Steve) Zirger of Tiffin, Bonnie (Dan) Fortin of Powell, Ohio, and Shelly (Tom) Coffman of Tiffin, 14 grandchildren, Katie Hope, Joseph & Matthew Cummings, Andrew & Daniel Zirger, Nicholas, Emily, Christopher, & Peter Gaietto, McKenna Gaietto, Luciano & Dangino Fortin, Owen & Jack Coffman, and a sister, Bonnie Throneberry of Tiffin.
Arlene was a 1952 graduate of Columbian High School and a graduate of Tiffin University, where she belonged to Kappa Delta Phi sorority . She had retired as the manager of St. Mary’s School cafeteria. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society, and was active with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed the company of her many friends in outings, especially at the Amvets with her closest and dearest friends, Connie and Joanne. She enjoyed time with her family and friends in many activities. Family, faith, and friends were important to Arlene. She was a loving wife and mother, and lovingly cared for her husband Nips in the final years of his illness.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, July 17, 2011, from 4 to 8 pm, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113, with a Parish Wake Service at 3:30 pm.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 am Monday, July 18, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The Rosary will be recited in church 20 minutes prior to the funeral.
Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Ursuline Convent, Toledo, or Community Hospice Care.
