Anne M. Kerkhoff, age 89, formerly of 190 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, died at 4:15 am, Sunday, December 17, 2006, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born May 11, 1917, in Manitowac, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Anna (Smits) Kerkhoff.
Survivors include a special friend, Earl Shultz of Tiffin; seven nieces and nephews, Kathleen (Norman) Twining of Tiffin, Patrick, Frank, and Ray Wurm of California, Cheryl Prokopchak of Kentucky, Alan and Steve Kerkhoff of Georgia; many great nieces and nephews, including Christine D. Waters of Columbus, Ohio, and Bruce D. Waters of Tiffin;a great-great nephew, Dustin W. Waters; a sister-in-law, Marian Kerkhoff of Tiffin, plus many cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Wurm, two brothers, Robert F. and Peter A. Kerkhoff, and a niece, Carole J. Breeding.
Miss Kerkhoff graduated from Calvert High School in 1935, and she retired in 1979 after five terms as the Seneca County Treasurer. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society. She had been Vice President of the Northwest Ohio Treasurers Association, President of the State Association of County Treasurers, and had served on the Tiffin City Planning Commission, the Tiffin Board of Appeals, and the Mercy Hospital Advisory Board. She was also a member of the Mary Help Society, the Poor Souls Society, the St. Francis Home Auxiliary, and was a St. Francis Home Volunteer.
Funeral Mass will be 11 am Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at St. Francis Home Chapel, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, with Revs. Richard Dunn and Frank Nieset officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday at the chapel.
