ANNA M. SCHERGER

Our Lord and Savior called Anna Margaret Scherger home Sunday evening, December 3, 2006 in the presence of her family. Anna, age 88, lived in rural Fostoria most of her life, only residing the past year at The Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, Ohio. Anna was born on August 28, 1918 in Seneca County to the late John M. and Edith S. (Stork) Sorg. She married Bernard J. Scherger on May 8, 1940 in St. Andrew Catholic Church, Liberty Twp.; he preceded her in death on September 7, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Brother Bernard Scherger of East Troy, Wisconsin; and Patrick (Judy) Scherger of Kansas, Ohio; and two daughters, Diane Goebel, and Sarah (Don) Hirt both of Fremont, Ohio; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister, Helen (Richard) Reinhart of Tiffin.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Jo Sorg, a son-in-law, Richard Goebel; and a daughter-in-law, Mary (Williams) Scherger.

Anna, a graduate of Columbian High School, was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Liberty Twp. where she was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society. Anna worked most of her life on the farm while raising her children. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking and baking, going fishing with her husband, and most of all playing Euchre or Pinochle cards with her family and friends.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A Christian wake service will be held 7:45 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, Father Art Niewiadomski
will officiate a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, Thursday, December 7, 2006 in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 3761 N SR 635. (The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass.)
Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to St. Andrew Church, Liberty Twp., Divine Word Missionaries in East Troy, WI, The Good Shepherd Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
