Toad was born to the late Alvern N. and Donna L. (Reed) Boes, Sr. in
Tiffin
on
September 24, 1944
. He married Sharon K. Vogelsong on
February 12, 1966
in
St. Joseph
Church
and she preceded him in death on
April 30, 1997
. He then married Fay LeMaster in
Tiffin
on
January 31, 2002
and she survives in
Tiffin
.
Other survivors include: two sons, Alvern “Skip” (Renee) Boes III, of Fremont, Robert (Hope) Boes, of Tiffin; two daughters Christina (Charles) Lutz of Tiffin, Kelly (Randolph) Puskarich, of Flat Rock, Mich.; one step-son, Joel (Paulette) LeMaster; two step-daughters, Jami (Scott) Stoner, and Jana (Chris) Fleming, all of Ashland; and 13 grandchildren, Derek, Emily, Briley, Brody, Brayden, Cohlin, Courtney, Megan, Ethan, Alan, Brooke, Kenniston and Donavan; two brothers, Albert “Skeet”(Terri) Boes, of Gahanna, Charles “Chip” (Cheri) Boes of Pensacola, Fla.; and two sisters, Becky (John) Lay of Tiffin, and Roberta “Bobbi” (Dave) Wilson of Upper Arlington, Ohio.
Toad graduated from
Calvert
High School
in 1962 and joined the Army Reserves. He was a lifelong farmer and a Clinton Township Volunteer Firefighter for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the AMVETS and the
Allen
Eiry
Senior
Center
.
