ALICE WARNEMENT

Alice C. Warnement, age 96, of Tiffin, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 4:15pm at the St. Francis Home in Tiffin. She was born August 15, 1910 to Leo and Ida (Zirger) Warnement in Tiffin, OH.

Survivors include a brother, Elmer Warnement of Tiffin, and 18 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Herman, Paul, Urban and Ralph Warnement; and three sisters, Sister Mary Estelle, Genevieve Warnement and Frances Eichhorn.

Alice graduated from Calvert High School in 1928 and the St. Vincent School of Nursing in Toledo in 1931. She was employed by Mercy Hospital in Tiffin for over 43 years from 1931 to 1975. She began her career as a medical-surgical nurse; moved to the nursery and obstetrics in 1947; became Nursing Supervisor in 1966 and finished her career as Director of Nursing for the hospital. She was honored in 1972 as the Mercy Hospital “Employee of the Year” and was a member of the Mercy Hospital 75th anniversary planning committee.

Alice was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary-Altar Society. She was also a member of the St. Vincent School of Nursing Alumni Association, a charter member of the St. Francis Auxiliary and a founding member of the Tiffin chapter of the Daughters of Isabella

Alice excelled at knitting and made many pair of booties for the less fortunate, bandages for the foreign missions, as well as many sweaters and quilts over her lifetime. She enjoyed bowling and traveling and fondly remembered her trips to Alaska and Hawaii.

The family would like to offer sincerest gratitude to all the Staff of St. Francis Home for the care and concern they have given Alice over the last several years, especially in her final months.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at the Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St, Tiffin and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the St. Francis Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the St. Francis Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Tiffin, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her name to St. Joseph Church, Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, or St. Francis Home, all in Tiffin.
