Alfred R. Taylor, age 82, formerly of 686 S. Sandusky Street, Tiffin, Ohio, died at 4:45 P.M. Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in St. Francis Home, Tiffin. He was born August 19, 1921, in Snow Hill, NC, to Green and Sula (Swinson) Taylor. On August 19, 1992, in Toledo, Ohio, he married Victoria D. Johnson. She died September 4, 2001.
He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two sisters, Julia Andrews, and Lillie Askew, both of Washington, D.C., a sister-in-law, Carrie Taylor of Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elijah Taylor and Green Taylor; four sisters, Essie Lee Edwards, Wauline Jones, Clara Barnes, & Pauline Forte.
Mr. Taylor was a 1938 graduate of Green County, North Carolina High School. He retired in 1987 from Webster Manufacturing, Tiffin, serving 40 years in the foundry.
He was a member of Faith A.M.E. Chapel, Fostoria, Ohio, where he served as a steward of the church, a Trustee, and a Choir member.
Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin. Memorials may be made to Faith A.M.E. Chapel, or St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
