Alex D. Gray, age 83, of Third St., Tiffin, died at 11:55 pm Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 26, 1927 in Manchester, Ky. His parents were Victor and Flora (Gray) Gross. He married Cleo Cheek January 31, 1953 in London, Ky., and she survives in Tiffin.
Also surviving are three daughters, Teresa (Dennis) McDonald of Tiffin, Pamela (Joe) Presnell of Tiffin and Rhonda “Sue” (Jody) Wagner of McCutchenville; three grandchildren, Olivia, Reid and Emilee; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Alex, Avery and Natalee; and a sister, Addie Mae (Troy) Barnard, of Indianapolis, Ind.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Natalie, a brother, Clayton Gross, and an infant daughter, Glenna.
Mr. Gray served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at National Machinery Company in sheet metal layout, retiring in 1990. Alex was a member of the Baptist Faith, the Eagles #402, the Tiffin Moose Lodge, the VFW, and the Quarter Century Club of National Machinery.
Alex enjoyed spending time with his family, he liked to fish, golf, and bowl. He loved spending time in his garden.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113. The Quarter Century Club will meet at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor David Raulston officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville. The United Veteran’s Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to F.A.C.T. in care of the funeral home.
